1000 Ohm – A.G.N.E.S.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQrZIfNMgdY
1000 Ohm was a Belgian new wave band, which existed from 1980 to 1987. The band scored a hit with the song A.G.N.E.S.1000 Ohm was founded by Frank Van Bogaert, who at the time was only eighteen, Koen Van Assche, Johan Van Herck and Erwin Vermeulen. The band made electronic music and included synthesizers, bass and percussion. Van Bogaert was musical autodidact and between studied engineering. The name refers to a 1000 ohm amplifier: an ohm is the unit of electrical resistance. In 1981 1000 Ohm broke through with A.G.N.E.S. (Up to speak are English, and spelled), once the most famous song of the group, which became a true international cult hit. The band was offered contracts and survived until 1987, although subsequent numbers never successful A.G.N.E.S. have equaled. The song has been carefully composed, with a moody, chromatic melody, and at least in Belgium become an icon of the early eighties. The 1000 ohm style is typical cold darkwave, very melodic and slightly melancholic. The technical effects prevail not by choice: it’s music that worked. To some extent there are similarities with Depeche Mode. After 1000 Ohm had fallen apart, Van Bogaert has put the producers; Since then he has a series of CD’s as a solo artist released in electronic and ambient genre. In 2009, Van Bogaert targets along with keyboardist William Beckers group Fish on Friday at www.fishonfriday.be. In 2010 released their debut album Shoot the Moon. In 2012, the successor Airborne is expected. This CD plays Nick Beggs, the former bassist of Kajagoogoo it.

A Split Second – Drinking Sand

A Split Second is a Belgian electronic body music band. The duo — Marc Heyndrickx and Peter Bonne (under the artist name Chrismar Chayell)—were active from their debut in 1986 until they split up in 1991, and A Split Second continued as a Heyndrickx solo project. They went on hiatus after a Swedish tour in 1994, and returned to the live scene in 2004. Since 2009, they have been playing live regularly.[1]After signing to Antler Records, A Split Second made their debut in 1986 with the single “Flesh”. It was followed the next year by another single, “Rigor Mortis”, and the album Ballistic Statues. In 1988, they were signed to the American label, Wax Trax! Records, and released the albums A Split Second and From The Inside in the US. The singles “Rigor Mortis”, “Mambo Witch” and “Colosseum Crash” (featuring guest vocals by Dead Kennedys frontman Jello Biafra) were also chart topping hits.[where?] New members Fedjean Venvelt (guitars) and Peter Boone (keyboards) joined the band for their first US tour.Their 1990 album, Kiss of Fury, featured the track “The Parallax View”, which was also a successful single and saw the band moving towards more of a guitar based sound. Nico Mansy (keyboards) joined the band for their second US tour. “Flesh” peaked in the UK Singles Chart at #68 in December 1991.[2]In 1991, Bonne became involved in a side project, Wasteland, which soon became more important for him than A Split Second. The duo split up by 1994, with Ickx continuing A Split Second as a solo project. Two more albums were released, Vengeance C.O.D. in 1993 and Megabite released in 1995.A Split Second’s debut single “Flesh” is credited with starting the New Beat genre, at 33 rpm, “Fat Ronnie’s inspiration snowballed when Marc and a handful of other DJs were listening to “Flesh”, the latest 12″ from Belgian electronic band A Split Second in Antwerp’s USA Import record store. By slowing the pitch control down to a lurching 33, Marc transformed the track from pleasant Euro Industrialism to the melodramatic, pomp laden epic that’s been firing London warehouses all summer.”.[3][4][5][6]In 2002, Perfecto Records released a progressive trance remix of “Flesh”, produced by Paul Oakenfold.

Absolute Body Control – Do You Feel It Inside

Having previously played in minor punk and new wave bands, Dirk formed Absolute Body Control as a project more influenced by the prototype synthpop sound being produced by the likes of Suicide and D.A.F.. The project originally feature Marc De Jonghe (synths) and Veerle De Schepper (backing vocals), though Mark was replaced in 1981 by Eric Van Wonterghem. The project released a number of cassettes, but only one 7″ (Is There An Exit?) and no studio albums during its brief lifespan. Dirk and Eric later joined forces with Marc Verhaeghen in The Klinik, and they would later collaborate on a number of other projects, most notably Sonar (band).A compilation of Absolute Body Control tracks entitled ‘Eat This’ was eventually released in 1993. A more comprehensive 2CD compilation ‘Lost/Found’ was issued in 2005. A 5 LP box set of all their cassette releases followed in 2007. Dirk and Eric also took the project back on stage in 2006 and continue to tour with the project. In 2007, 22 years after splitting up, Absolute Body Control re formed and will release Wind[Re]Wind,[1] which contains newly recorded versions of their best tracks so far next to the brand new EP “Never seen”, containing a remix by The Horrorist. And a new album came out in 2010 Shattered Illusion & Sorrow. In 2011 came the album Mindless Intrusion & Surrender No Resistance with remix by the famous French Millimetric on Daft Records.2013 saw the project remix tracks by post punk/electro wave band Section 25, namely “Microgroove” on the “Invicta Max” 10″ and “Beating Heart” on the 2013 remix CD “Eigengrau”.

ADN Ckrystall – Melancholie Fluo

ADN’ Ckrystall is the moniker of synth master Erick Moncollin from Metz, France, who is a major force in shaping French Synth Wave. Moncollin started experimenting in 1977, using a prototype of the legendary Korg MS 20. His sound is a discordant conglomeration of synthesizers, drum machines and vocals that cradle the edge of the brain. He does not just flap in the face of what is earmarked as the conventional sound of new wave, he tears it asunder.

Air – Warp Factor One

Nicolas Godin studied architecture at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Versailles, and Jean Benoît Dunckel studied mathematics, before forming a band in 1995.[3] Before founding Air (erroneously considered as an acronym of Amour, Imagination, Rêve, which translates to Love, Imagination, Dream),[4] Dunckel and Godin played together in the band Orange[2] with others such as Alex Gopher, Xavier Jamaux and Jean de Reydellet. The former two subsequently contributed to remixes of tracks recorded by Air.Initially, Godin worked alone, recording a demo with members of Funkadelic as his backing band before releasing his first entirely solo effort, “Modular Mix”, which featured production by Étienne de Crécy.
